OpenXR: New Standard for VR and AR

Nick Whiting did a nice detailed overview of the standard developed by the Khronos OpenXR working group.

Unity and PiXYZ Software Brings CAD Data to Real-Time Development

Some features:

  • Studio can prepare manufacturing CAD data for real-time experience and exploration. Studio and Studio Editor provide CAD import and data preparation for the desktop.
  • Pipeline and Connect enable you to move your process into the datacenter. PiXYZ Review provide an alternative to interacting with CAD data without the need to build a project at all.
  • Plugin adds a menu option in the Unity editor that allows you to directly import CAD models into your project.

Node Graph Assistant for UE4

New commands:

  • Right-click on pins to connect multiple nodes while dragging a connection wire. Right-click and drag while dragging a connection wire will pan the node graph. Click on a pin to start free panning, zooming and dropping (without using a keyboard).
  • Hold down shift while dragging a connection to start free panning, zooming and dropping. Shift-click on connected node pin will duplicate connection wire.Left click on connection wire will highlight it, click on empty space to remove the highlight.
  • Left click and drag on empty space while holding down alt will break all connection wires along its way(note that this is an experimental feature, if you are dragging too fast, some connection wires may still stay connected).
